A New Era for Food Safety
In January, President Obama signed the new Food Safety Modernization Act, intended to help prevent catastrophic food-related illnesses to consumers as has happened in recent years with such products as spinach and peanuts. Here is a report in Progressive Grocer by Bob Gatty that discusses the industry's influence in the law's development, how the food industry is responding, and steps now being taken to reduce the risk of pathogens entering the meat supply. Bob is contributing editor for Progressive Grocer and his articles appear in nearly every issue.
Settings for Care
The Spring 2011 edition of HIV Specialist, published by the American Academy of HIV Medicine, is focused on the wide variety of settings in which those dedicated men and women who treat HIV patients serve, ranging from inside the walls of prisons to community-based clinics, private practices, hospital-based clinics and practices that also are dedicated to research. G-Net's Bob Gatty is editor-in-chief of HIV Specialist, while graphic design is by G-Net partner Bonotom Studio, Inc. and ad sales by G-Net partner Ad Marketing Group.
Snacks Feeling the Buzz
Even though consumers have been struggling and are trying to make their money go further, many are returning to their favorite snack brands, often at the expense of private label. A report by Bob Gatty in Convenience Distribution, published by the American Wholesale Marketers Association, covers these trends. As contributing editor, Bob's articles appear in every issue. Recent articles discussed the future of menthol cigarettes and the outlook for mergers and acquisitions in the convenience store distribution industry. At AWMA's annual convention and other major conferences, G-Net produces overnight e-news updates reporting on daily developments at those events.
State of the Industry Report
G-Net was a major contributor to the 2010 State of the Industry report published by the Snack Food Association's quarterly magazine, Snack World. While the report was largely based on data developed by SymphonyIRI and presented at the SNAXPO convention, it included a detailed report of developments in major snack categories. G-Net covered SNAXPO for Snack World and produced a daily e-news update for SFA members, including those who could not attend. Photography services were by G-Net strategic partner U.S. Event Photo.
Store of the Month Feature
For Progressive Grocer magazine, we produced a detailed feature article about Roots Market, a natural and organic foods enterprise near Washington, DC. The article was prepared and written by G-Net's Bob Gatty, and photography was by G-Net staff photographer Jackie Cristiano.
The Distributor Value Equation
Bob Gatty co-authored with Dietz Consulting, LLC a two-part study for the American Wholesale Marketers Association that recommended steps convenience store distributors can take to increase profits. Many of the recommendations are being implemented and profits are improving.
Membership Report
G-Net recently produced the biennial Report to the Members for the Snack Food Association. The report detailed the association's major activities and services, creating a clear picture of return on members' investment. The report was designed by G-Net strategic partner Monad Creative.
